Description
Antique Lead Kashrut Tag - for certifying that poultry is kosher. This lead tag or plumba, as it was called, was applied to poultry to indicate that it was slaughtered according to the laws of kashrut. The Hebrew word "Kosher" can clearly be seen on one side of the tag.. The other side is not as clear. It may be a design of some kind, although it does appear to contain tthe number "2". The plumba is undoubtedly quite old, dating to at least the late nineteenth or very early twentieth century, but may even be a century older than that. These are very unusual and rare and are probably Eastern European in origin. If it doesn't sell at this price, it will not be relisted again.
